Going to new york?

Travel Info
I'm from Florida and I'm going to new york for the first time. What are the best places to go? How are the broadway shows? Are there any good shops to go to? Help!

Travel Tips
there are all sorts of places to go! the broadway shows are amazing and if you aren't picky about what show you see you can get half price tickets on the same day of the show from a booth that i think is in times square. there are also lottery tickets, where you go ahead of time and sign up and can get two tickets in (i think) the 1st or 2nd row, center section for around 20 dollars each. that's only for some shows, though. times square, herald square, central park, union square, washington square park are all good fairly easy to get to locations and most of them have good shops near by. i'd do some research online and if you want to take the subway, go to hopstop.com and it will give you directions on how to get anywhere, by foot, train, or bus. that is cheaper than a cab would be and if you have good directions, or a map, it is fairly easy to navigate.

Broadway Shows are great, but expensive.

Off Broadway performances create the inspirational life blood for the larger Broadway productions. The wealth of talent, creativity and artistic expression makes a visit to any off-Broadway show your chance to see a star in the making or a future smash hit on Broadway in much more intimate surroundings. This season alone sees major new shows on Broadway arriving from their off-Broadway debuts such as the Tony Award winning Grey Gardens. See http://www.newyorkcitytheatre.com/index_...
I know it's probably not your thing but the Toys 'R' Us in Times Square is something to behold, the ferris wheel inside the place makes it a fun thing to check out. Also go down to Lower Manhatten and get on the Staten Island Ferry (you just turn around and get right back on and go back to Manhatten), takes you past Ellis Island and the Statue Of Liberty. Best part is it's free and that's a rarity in NY. Walk over from the ferry terminal about a block or so and you'll see the sculpture that was in the WTC plaza that's now a memorial. Walk over a few more blocks and you'll be at the actual WTC site. Might not be your thing but it's just something my wife and I do when we're there. Oh yeah if you go down into the transit center there you're actually in the hole. As for shops lord knows there's plenty of them, if you can't find it NYC it doesn't exsist, you will find something you'll like there.
