NYC- is the following a bad neighboorhood? |
Travel Info I want to go see a band with a group of friends at the Bowery Ballroom (6 Delancy St) in NYC. I brought the idea up with my mom to ask permission and she said it would be great if it wasn't a "bad neighboorhood" so I want to know is it really? Travel Tips Absolutely not...your mom is just being over protective. Crime is down 9.44% from last year and down over 63% from 14 years ago. But today Delancy Street is in the rapidly gentrifying Lower East Side that is getting full of white hippies. Other Travel Tips Its not a bad area at all. Is not the hippiest neighboorhood in the city, but its safe. No need to worry. The subway its right there, so you wont even need to wonder around getting to the place. I was there last week. The Lower East Side now has upscale restaurants, clubs, and stores. With all these people visiting the area, there isn't much crime here. Only 30 years ago, the Lower East Side was known as Bum Alley. You had junkies and prostitutes living in the burned out buildings along Rivington, Orchard, and Delancy Streets. Today, it's an upscale neighborhood with trendy stores, restaurants, and nightclubs. Today it's safe, yet still use caution. Delancy Street is classic Lower East Side. Today it is a thriving market street (but it always was), with many shops and things to look at. The BallRoom is a popular spot, Far from being a "bad neighborhood", your biggest problem will be the crowds. Have fun! |
