the angel of the north not far from newcastle is very impressive. the gateshead millenium bridge that spans the tyne river from gateshead to newcastle, otherwise known as "the blinking eye", st nicholas' cathedral, baltic art centre and the sage gateshead are all worth visiting. the metrocentre, europe's largest mall, has something for everyone. even the tyne tunnel is quite an experience for a first time visitor, likewise the pedestrian tunnel which boasts the longest wooden escalator in the world. |
