1.) What is the origin of the term 'Geordie'? I've been told Newcastle supported King George in a war, but which war and which King George?

2.) Where does 'Toon' come from, if it is not Geordie for 'town'?

'Toon' is just 'town' in Geordie accent, but refers usually specifically to Newcastle towncentre
