I'd be prone to say Newcastle!

Other than that Whitley Bay on the coast is popular with lads but personally I can't stand it.

You could do both as the Metro will get you from Newcastle to Whitley Bay in less than half an hour

NB You can get the Metro into Newcastle from the Airport too.

Another option might be Durham, there are plenty bars but it is quiet when there are no studenst around. Source(s): Living in between Newcastle and Durham for 29 years
