What sights are there to see on the way to Niagara Falls?

Travel Info
I'm planning a trip in the summer from near Newark, NJ to Niagara Falls and want to stop at places along the way. Any suggestions?

Travel Tips
A reasonable way to go is I-80 west into Pennsylvania to I-380 to Scranton, then I-81 north to Binghamton, NY 17/I-86 west to Corning, then I-390 north to the Thruway (I-90) near Rochester, west to I-290 to I-190 to the falls.

Scranton: Steamtown is probably the best railroad museum in the country. It's worth a visit on its own.

Ithaca (north of Owego on NY 96) is home to Cornell U. and Ithaca College. It's interesting on its own, and is where you can start a tour of the Finger Lakes, with wineries up and down the sides of each lake.

Corning: the Corning Museum of Glass has wonderful collections of both glassmaking history and technology and glass art, with live glassmaking demonstrations. Kids (and their parents) can do a project class to make your own glass arty stuff.

Rochester: if you're interested in photography, the Eastman House is worth a visit.

Once you get to Niagara Falls, head north on the Canadian side to Niagara-on-the-Lake, the cutest little town in all of Upper Canada (now known as Ontario), and home to the Shaw Festival theatres Source(s): Steamtown: http://www.nps.gov/stea

Howe Caverns in upstate New York. Man it is cool!

Also If at Binghamton, you take the 17 you can go to the Corning Glass Museum and then keep onto Buffalo... I have traveled many times from Buffalo to Sommerset, NJ and I find this way to be a little faster and MUCH prettier than going all the way North to Syracuse and then East to Buffalo.

I also suggest getting a Garmin GPS (or renting one). With the GPS you can at any time search for food, lodging and attractions from where you are at the moment, as well as pre-progamming your home location and any other stops you want.
