Which papers ae needed to cross into Canada for the falls?

Travel Info
My huband, two grandsons(which I have legal guardianship), and I are planning a trip to Niagra Falls. Which papers do we need to cross the border?

Travel Tips
Bring birth certificates for all of you, driver's or non driver's ID for the adults, and the paperwork that says you have guardianship of the kids, just in case.

Others
If you're American, take your birth certificate.
Make sure you have proof of auto insurance in your vehicle.

We take our passports with us everywhere we go-just in case, but you don't need to for Canada or Mexico.
Be prepared for a long wait coming back into the US from Canada by the Niagra Falls area.
They are notoriously slow.
:)
I walked over the bridge to Canada and on my return to the NY side I was asked to show my drivers license, that was it. I also had two minor children with me and no identification was asked even though I had thier birth certificates on me. This was 2 years ago.
