Bring a friend with you on vacation to canada? |
Travel Info I would like to bring my friend with me on our family vacation from the US into Canada this year. What kind of documents do my parents need to have to cross the border with my friend and I ? Travel Tips You may need notarized permission from your friends parents, if that friend is under 18.. Passports, no matter where you want to travel in the world are always best. Even so, your friend, if under 18 years old will need to have that notarized letter from her/his parents. No passports? All of you will need to provide proof of American citizenship. This can be in the form of driver's licence with photo ID, birth certificate, or any other valid photo ID. If you don't have a passport... right now a driver licence will do... but not after 2008. After 2008, you will require a passport to cross the border. And also, you'll need some proof that indicate your US citizens, such as... Leave your guns at home. birth certificate, as far as i know the law hasn't changed yet, to have a passport required If your friend is under 18 she will need a note from her parents along with photo ID and birth certificate. I cross the border all the time... I think you should telephone the nearest Canadian embassy and ask what is required, rather than taking the advice of strangers on the internet and risk being turned away at the border. |
