I have a question about my recent trip to Canada regarding money? |
Travel Info After returning from my trip to Canada (which was terrific), I was checking my bank account on my pc, and noticed that the restaurant charges where I used my debit card to pay did not include the tip I wrote in on the bill. It was the same for several restaurants, and I'm confused, I hope the servers got the tip..... Travel Tips That should go for anywhere. You have to advise the clerk beforehand of the tip in a lot of places, or there will be a screen on the little debit machine that will ask you if you'd like to enter a tip. Writing a tip on the receipt only works for credit cards, since you can't go back into a debit transactiion to add more money to it. Others You should've left the cash for the tip. Maybe your tip and the exchange rate were about the same... I would have to agree with countpetez, that if you were tipping anywhere from 10-15 percent of your check it happened in the conversion from Canadian to US dollars, I used to work in a restaruant in the city and I assure you every server/bartender makes sure that they get there tip ;) Glad you had a good time, perhaps you'll be back :) |
