Ok, so is a passport needed now if you DRIVE into Canada? |
Travel Info Hope to go to Niagara Falls Canadian side in April but don't know about the passport thing. Thanks. Travel Tips Current Requirements for Entry Into Canada Visas are not required for U.S. citizens entering Canada from the U.S. You will, however, need: proof of your U.S. citizenship such as your U.S. passport (For information on obtaining a U.S. passport, check with one of the regional passport agencies located throughout the U.S.) or certified copy of your birth certificate issued by the city, county or state in the U.S. where you were born. If you are a naturalized U.S. citizen and do not have a passport, you should travel with your naturalization certificate. A driver鈥檚 license, voter鈥檚 registration card or Social Security card is NOT valid proof of citizenship. photo identification, such as a current, valid driver鈥檚 license. Source(s): http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/regi... Other Travel Tips Yes...when I was in Detroit they needed a passport for me to cross into Windsor to get to the casino...same thing applies to Niagara Falls. Hope this helps! No, not if you are a U.S. Citizen, at least not until January 2008 or later. (see http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp... ) You will need a photo I.D. such as Driver's License, and proof of citizenship such as birth certificate. Some Canada Customs Officers have started asking for a passport, but it's not law (yet). Haven't been asked yet coming into the U.S. Frequently cross U.S. / Canada border PASSPORT NOT NEEDED UNTIL 2008 Just make sure you bring your ID no, drivers license will do. |
