I just recently drove to Detroit and back...no passport needed, although it was nice to have. They just asked for proof of citizenship. You will need one in 2008 for land crossings. In 2007 you need a passport for air travel into the US... Others As of January 1, 2007 you need it to get back into the US. It's a fabulous place, though....go! It was part of the Patriot Act. Sweet and simple answer...No. I live in Pennsylvania and have traveled there often. Now you do. Before all you needed was a drivers license. Saw it on the news.
