What part of Florida doesnt have hurricanes? do hurricanes past threw Sarasota or orlando? thanks ya'll?

Travel Info
I might move down there and i want to know where hurricanes DO not pass and where it's safe to live in florida!

Travel Tips
Unfortunately there is no way to stop a hurricane. I have lived in the Orlando area for close to 10years and we have experienced our share (back in 2004 they came every other week for about a month) but the more inland you live the less likely you are to get them.

ha ha think theres some underground carparks in miami you could live there if you like cardboard boxes.
Sarasota does get hurricanes yes, they are on the beach. Orlando is about 1 1/2 hours away from the beach and so therefore doesn't get hurricanes, they don't come onto land that far. However if a hurricane is off the coast there then Orlando can get bad weather from the hurricane (the outskirts of the hurricane if you will), is the best I can describe it. Anywhere on the beaches of Florida, can and will get hurricanes.

There is no part of florida exempt from hurricanes. Lived here for most of my life and trust me there is no place exempt. Not inland or the coast.Inland may not get hit as hard but then again you can'nt call it.Hurrican jean and francis did just as much damage inland as they did on the coast trust me i went through both of them.
first - please listen to the posters about orlando - it DOES get urricanes and yes in 04 it was a HARD season for them.
unfortunately depending on the path ofthe hurricane -- it can hit anywhere in florida. the inland ara like gainesville and tallahassee won't generally suffer a direct hit but can get hit hard - it's just not generally as likely. 2004 in orlando was a little bit of a fluke. i livein jacksonville florida and we have had more of the tornados from the outer bands. our last direct hit was in '68 or around there. no matter what - i would still live here. think about it.... tornado's hit, ice storms & snow storms hit.... at least, in florida, while it's not "fun" to be without power in the summer - it's better then not having power during an ice storm ; )
There is no place in Florida that is safe from hurricanes. There is nowhere in Florida that you can be far enough away from the ocean that a hurricane can't hit. Orlando is probably the safest major city in Florida.
