Me & my husband are planning on going to Florida this Janurary.?

Travel Info
He would like to stay by MGM & I want to stay ON the ocean. Has anyone stayed @ a hotel (ocean front) not to far from MGM. Maybe we can compromise & both be happy. A hotel with activities near by would be perfect. Thanks.

Travel Tips
If you're talking about Disney-MGM Studios, it's nowhere near the ocean. WDW property is smack in the middle of Florida--between the 2 coasts. However, if you don't mind driving, there are plenty of resorts on either coast that are nice. If you stay near Cocoa Beach or near Tampa, you'll be very close to 2 major roads that will get you to Disney with about an hour's travel time (maybe more).

If you're willing to stay on WDW property and drive to the beach, there are plenty of resorts on property that are on lakes and have water activities--e.g. Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans, Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Fort Wilderness Campground, Yacht and Beach, Boardwalk. Other Travel Tips
The Disney-MGM Studios theme park is located at Walt Disney World which is inland near Orlando, FL. The nearest beach to Orlando is Cocoa Beach which is about a 45 minute drive. I strongly recommend that you stay onsite at Walt Disney World where you will find the best and most convenient accomodation options and instead just save a day-trip for the beach. The nearest resorts to Disney-MGM Studios are the following:

- Disney's Boardwalk Inn
- Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts
- Swan & Dolphin Resorts

All the above resorts are Disney resorts except the Swan and Dolphin which are part of the Disney chain but are independently owned. To make reservations you can visit the Walt Disney World website, here is a direct link:

You can also buy your theme park tickets and/or book a combined Disney vacation package at the above website which could be a good deal.

I hope that helps. Have Fun!

2 completely areas. and did you mean janaury as in this past or january upcoming? i would stay at MGM b/c January is our coldest month and i don't care where you're from it will be too cold on the beach.
I agree I would stay on property and take a day or too to go to the beach. I went to universal studios last january and the timing was wonderful. I think it might be too cold on the beach but would be nice to walk on that is why I would go for the day. I would take the time to drive to clearwater beach it is so nice there
It looks like you will have to compromise...maybe either do a couple days at Disney-going to MGM Studios than on to the beach or finding a beach themed hotel like the Beach Club Resort at Disney to stay at. Orlando is about 45minutes between beaches so it's not terribly far if you want to stay on the beach and commute to the parks...
