Confused - with price of gas how can an average family afford a vacation? |
Travel Info would like to travel out of our state, possibly a group tour, but how to find one for adults, seniors and kids. interested in something where family members could all go together and save money, such as a trip to Disney in Florida, overnight stay in Pigeon Forge where you visit Dollywood. I'm sure he adjusted the numbers to fit his style, but they did make sense. If you are taking a 1,000 mile trip and fuel prices have increased 50 cents a gallon, your vehicle gets 20 miles per gallon, your cost increase is $25.00. Really that's not too bad considering you'll pay 8 bucks for a Disney burger or a couple of bucks for a small bottle of water. I don't like paying these high prices any more than anyone else since I live in a motorhome and these prices really hurt my wallet. Prices were rising last year, yet my wife & I took a trip from Brooksville, FL to Alaska, at round trip of 14,500 miles. Think of that fuel bill. I burned over 1,000 gallons at a rate from $2.59 per gallon to $1.29 per liter, that's 3.8 times $1.29. High fuel prices are with us for the rest of our lives. Some day there may be a solution to this mess, we wouldn't like it. Others Contact a travel agent. They will work with you to find the best arrangements for the whole family. How about a Disney cruise? Really with the price of gas being so high everything else has gone up. I find it's hard to manage the bills let alone go on vacation. If cost is an issue try a trip closer to home. AMTrack. Get a sleeper, sight see from the train and enjoy the ride. SouthWest Airlines or JetBlue to Orlando(Disneyland). |
