Where is the best beach to get seashells near Orlando?

Travel Info
What beach would be the best to go to. to get sea shells. My boyfriend really wants to get some from the beach

Travel Tips
The best shelling beach in Florida is the one and only Sanibel. There is a fee to drive to Sanibel Island. Also there could be trouble finding a parking spot on the week-end.

You may find shells at New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach, Flagler Beach, watch the rocks, Cocoa, but Sanibel is the best. We have found some nice shells in Bahia Honda State Park in the keys, but thats a long drive and the park rangers frown on shell removal.

You can't drive your car on Flagler Beach. Ormond Beach is as far North as you can drive your vehicle. With our recent storms, you may find it hard to drive on the beach. There is a movement to stop all driving on beaches of Florida. Many children have been runover by unattentive drivers.

Go to the beach, stop at the shell shop and pick up a few you like. Source(s): 65 year Florida resident
Other Travel Tips
Flager Beach south of Daytona. Don't park your car too close to incoming tide!
Wherever you go, you must hit the beach at dawn or just before because everyone else has the same ideas you do. You would be more successful buying seashells at a tourist shop. If you find one later in the morning/day it will most likely be a broken one, half buried, or just out of sheer luck. (so don't count on it)

Cocoa beach is closest to Orlando and there is also Flagler and Daytona beach (but wander far from the boardwalk area towards Daytona shores). There were shells a plenty in Daytona but again, only the early birds got them.
Since Orlando is in the center of the state, you'll have to travel a bit. There's Jensen Beach to the east (Port Saint Lucie) and Holmes & Bradenton Beaches to the west (Sarasota area). Good luck!

The most infamous beach I can think of for shells is Sanibel Island on the gulf side. Even before I moved to Florida I used to have relatives vacation there and bring back the most amazing shells. I live on the other side of the state, and been to most of the beaches mentioned above. They're all good, but for amazing I would make the trip to Sanibel every time.
