Disney World vs. Universal in July - which is best week to go? |
Travel Info My husband were planning to go in April, and then conflicts pushed it back to early July. And, duh, I just realized that we will be there on the 4th holiday. I am getting a 7 day pass for DW and a 1 week for Universal. Given that the holiday falls on a wed., shoud I plan on doing Universal's 2 parks that week (I am going to plan on avoiding weekends unless there is something I missed during the week). Is 5 days plenty of time for 2 adults w/ no kids to do all of universal in that time? Or am I really missing something if I don't do Disney? I know I am planning on alot of lines at that time, but I'm hoping to try and minimize on that by staying to mid week when not all adults want to take off work just because the kids are out of school. I have done Disneyland in CA for the 4th of July before, and it was alright, but DW might be a whole different experience in crowd wise. Travel Tips Hello. Five days is more than enough for Universal. I have actually done both parks Universal parks in one day (that of course was when there was no lines). Just get there early and get the fast passes that they offer. That way you can avoid a lot of the lines and plan your day around that. Without kids you really could do a park a day, even with lines. Now, if you get a park hopper for Disney you could spend a whole week because of the lines and the travel between the parks. But also try to get there early and get the express passes. Hope this helps! Source(s): My dad works at Disney, so we get in for free and go quite a bit. And my aunt works for Universal so we also get in for free. Other Travel Tips UNIVERSAL They are both going to be crowded....weekdays and weekends.... weekends a little bit more than weekdays. July is HOTT and the parks are PACKED with tourists. Expect long hot lines. Ironically at any park that doesnt have something special going on for the 4th of July.... will be only moderatly busy on the 4th of July. Here's the deal when going to Central FLorida in July...coming from somene who went with wife and 2 year old last July. It will be hot...we got lucky and came as one heat wave ended before the next one came it. It will rain at least once in four days...it did when we were there, so plan on proper indoor activities or be close enough (many of the attractions at both parks are indoors and are long enough lasting that the shower may be done while you are at that attraction) If you are with a family, YOU MUST TAKE A MID DAY SIESTA!!!! This includes lunch, a nap and swimming. Plan your stay at a hotel with great pools (Portofino in Universal, Yacht and Beach at WDW). The four hours per day not spent in lines and getting asphalt feet will be worth it as the evenings are generally calmer. You will need four days to do Universal in a proper manner, with 2 days at each park...You'll have enough time to enjoy the attractions without distractions. WDW requires more time if you want to hit all four parks...BUT note that Animal Kingdom and MGM each require but one day (and Animal Kingdom closes early every night). EPCOT and the Magic Kingdom require 2 days each for proper time without rushed feeling... Note that some parks have early open/late close...use the late close feature one night and actually sleep in the next day...it won't kill you... We were lucky on our trip and did all of the rides that Sydney (the then 2 year old) wanted to go on (Dumbo, Carousel, Peter Pan, Pooh, etc, Toon Town and the train) in just 2 hours on a Saturday late morning...don't let the crowds on Main Street fool you...get thee to the castle and you'll see things open up... July is for stalwarts of Mickey and Universal fun...but remembering the steps to success (the SIESTA I cannot emphasize enough), you'll be okay and eed only a little vacation after your vacation! Be sure also to grab the UNOFFICIAL Guide to WDW at your local bookstore...it will help in all of your planning (you are behind already...!) Ciao for now, Scott W. WDW 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006 and October 2007 Universal 2001, 2004 my cranium...care to compare??? |
