What can I do in Orlando, Florida? |
Travel Info I'm going at the end of June for 4 days...what is there to do besides the theme parks? Travel Tips I'm a native, and I would have to say that it depends what you are looking for, or are interested in. Besides the obvious theme parks that you mentioned, there's some other obscure tourist attractions (but fun): Ripley's Believe It or Not, Wonder Works, DisneyQuest, etc. We also have Van's Skate Park and Sky Venture...all of which have a bit of a touristy feel. My favorite things to do here: Nature - visit Leu Gardens. It's in Downtown Orlando area and is absolutely beautiful. Wekiva Springs State Park - canoeing, hiking, camping, swimming, etc. Tons of fun! Fun - we have a ton of great theatrical plays, great movie theaters (the Enzian, which plays local films, is amazing), and we're pretty close to both Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach. Dinner - if you are looking for local food, here's a couple of suggestions: Dixie Crossroads, which is in the Festival Bay Mall on International Drive (in a tourist area, but serves local seafood at a very reasonable price), Winter Garden Pizza Company (in Winter Garden, FL), Orlando Ale House (Ale House is a chain, and I'm not sure if it stretches outside of Florida, but it's a great place for drinks, watching a game, and casual dining), Margaritaville at CityWalk, and Tiajuana Flats (all over Orlando...chain, but started here). Outdoor: canoeing at Wekiva Springs, fishing at the local lakes Nightlife: there's a very huge variety of night life out here. Pleasure Island and CityWalk will provide you with a variety of night clubs that are high quality and classy...if you go downtown, you'll get more of the local flare, but it tends to be more of your typical club atmosphere). Club recommendations: Macos, Big Belly Brewery, The Social My favorite night spot of all is a place called Cricketeers Arms. It's closed from it's current location and is re-opening in the Festival Bay Mall and very likely will be open when you are here. It's a British Pub and always offers local music...it's laid back and draws in a huge crowd! Also, don't miss Howl at the Moon (piano bar...very wild place!) Hope I was helpful! Others this is a site you might want to check out to do http://www.wonderworksonline.com/html/de... also if you want to go some place that you don`t have to pay to get in theres Old Town in Kissimmee which is not to far from Orlando, its on 192 the main road..When you get to your motel/hotel there is lots of booklets there to pickup on places to go while your in Orlando How about Old Town located in Kissimmee.
