Travel Info for 1 week with my family of 2 kids ( 15 & 12 year olds). whats there to do except for theme parks? Travel Tips If your were going to to just one park with kids that age, I would recommend Islands of Adventure at Universal. - Lots of fun rides. For non 'theme park' Tourist stuff check out: Wonder Works - International Drive Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum - International Drive DisneyQuest - Downtown Disney For non touristy stuff check out Wekiva Springs State Park - Swimming, canoing in natural Florida Rock Springs at Kelly park - Natural spring fed river tube run The Beach - Closest is Cocoa Beach about an hour East. Go near the Pier or Ron Jons Surf shop Others orlando IS mostly theme parks considering its Disney. But there is a spot called Downtown Disney with lots of shops and restaurants, and theres a place called Pleasure Island that has lots of clubs an comedy shows. Also, there is Circqu De Solei (spelling) the circus show there isnt much to do besides theme parks unless you're willing to drive out to the beaches. you can try driving out to kissemme which isnt that far from orlando. they have this place called old town there and its kind of like a little amusement park kinda thing. they have this big bungee jump thing and right next to old town, they have this thing called skycoaster (google skycoaster kissemme florida) and i went on it and it was absolutely amazing. it was definitely worth the money. they also have this G-Force drag racing thing where you can actually race the car. i went there a few years ago so my memory isnt too good, so i would google it to get details. http://www.adventuresinflorida.net/skyco... I have a holiday home there and the only time I have done the parks was the very first time. There is so much to do outwith Disney. Have a great time when you go After going to FL so many times...I finally went to seaworld...We loved it so much and I can't wait to go back there..Its also nice to take a drive to Datona Beach...You can drive on the beach..park the car,..there will be so much to do without going to Disney. There also is the Orlando mall. You should just go to a Barnes and Noble and look in the travel section and get a book on that area..That will give you tons of ideas. Have a great time. Expect to miserably hot. Wear sunscreen and light clothes so you wont get over heated. Expect also to be waiting in line for over an hour to ride rides. the experience will be nice, but you will get tired fast from the heat and all the people. |
