What is There to Do in Orlando, Other Than Amusement Parks...? |
Travel Info I'm going there in July and I am wanting to hear from locals and people who have been there, about what there is to do. Travel Tips If you're a music person you could go to a concert. Check ticketmaster for the dates that you'll be in Orlando. House of Blues and Hard Rock Live are some of the medium size venues, and the Amway Arena is where the huge shows take place. If you're into clubs there are plenty of places to go. Downtown has a bunch, obviously, but a lot of them are pretty sketchy. Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney is good, but a little pricey. Universal CityWalk has a good nightlife, too. If you like shopping then you're in luck! Check out the Florida Mall, or the Millenia Mall for the more high-end stuff. Outlets are huge here, too, you can get really nice for a big discount. I recommend the Premium Outlets in Lake Buena Vista. Others With such tourist attractions as anchors, numerous chefs have a base restaurant in the area. Emeril, Wolfgang, and others host their menus at a price, but it may be a nice diversion from one too many rides. There are also free attractions like Downtown Disney, a shopping center featuring the restaurants mentioned above, a giant movie theater, large stores, and some interesting displays, including a Legoland style display of cartoon characters. If you are willing to travel a little off the beaten path, there are plenty of non-amusement park things in Florida, like orange groves, alligator viewing parks, boat rides, etc. Checking out a book from the library may be your best bet when looking to have fun in Orlando that does not involve the famous parks. Also, you may want to check into purchasing a GoCard. I put the link below - they have some other great ideas! http://www.goorlandocard.com/packageinfo... I really love the different varieties of food. Some of my favorite types are Haitian, Greek and Brazilian. Also, I think the cloths there are cuter and cheaper. You could find all of these in the Down Town area or anywhere as a matter of fact. You won't have to look hard at all. I live there. i'm serious the night life is awsome Well so far everyone has pointed you to tourist attractions. The best "unknown Orlando" is to visit Winter Park and go shopping. There are a bunch of small cafes and specialty shops not filed with tourist. Also checkout Hue in Thorton Park one of the best off the beaten track restaurants in the city but has a cool urban vibe. Another good thing to do while in Orlando is go to the Columbia restaurant in Celebration. It is true Spanish food in a formal environment. If you are the artistic type the Orlando Art Museum is located near downtown. |
