Orlando thunderstorms -theme parks?? |
Travel Info I'm gonna be in Orlando between the 2nd and 13th of August to enjoy both theme parks and water parks. If the weather instead of sunny is rainy with thunderstorms, would the theme parks open? Would they be enjoyable? What else can one do in Orlando during a thunderstorm? Do these storms usually go on for a whole day?? Travel Tips Yes the theme parks would still be open during a thunderstorm, however, at water parks like Wet n Wild, if there are lightning strikes I would imagine that visitors would be asked to get out of the water. Since I wasn't at a water park during a thunderstorm, I can't give you a definitive answer ---just an educated guess. The storms usually blow over fairly quickly. In fact, it can be raining on one side of the street and sunny on the other. Really!. It's unlikely that it would rain the entire day, UNLESS, there's a hurricane. If it does happen to rain for an extended period there are plenty of restaurants, shopping malls, tours, etc. to occupy your time. Be sure to wear sunscreen because it's not fit for man nor beast down there in August. (HOT). Others In August in Florida, it's quite likely that there will be thundershowers at some time during your stay. The parks do stay open, though they might close a ride or two. There are any number of places where you can get out of the rain (at least at Disney). You might run into a day with several showers, but the individual thundershowers are usually not very long. Most Floridians don't let thundershowers slow them down much. Grew up in Florida. The parks will be open and you will have fun. Normally it may rain and/or storm but storms here rarely last longer than an hour or two and are ususally in the afternoon around 3ish. Disney is always awesome. One of our trips it rained, thunderstorms were brief and crowds dispersided into buildings. We were at Epcot and then Magic Kingdom. Very little effect on trip. |
