Going to Walt Disney World!!!?

Travel Info
My family and I are leaving for Myrtle Beach & Disney in a week. I have looked and explored the internet for all kinds of information, and have found out quite a bit. Does anyone have any suggestions? we are planning on visiting all the theme parks. Magic Kingdom twice. This is our first trip to Disney, actually our first family vacation. Our kids are 15(g), 9(g) and 3(b)... Myrtle Beach --- I can't find out a whole lot on that. I figure we will just go with the flow while we are there. Me and My husband went there on our honeymoon a loooong time ago but have never taken the kids. If anyone has any suggestions on things to do there (amusement parks, shopping, beach activities, etc. it would be great.

Travel Tips
you could spend a month in the Orlando area and not run out of things to do. I don't know exactly what date you're coming down (I live in North Florida), but if my calendar is correct, you're coming down at about the same time the shuttle Atlantis is supposed to land. Watching a shuttle land and then touring the space base (Canaveral) is quite an experience. It is a couple of hours drive from the Orlando area, but it is almost totally free (other than gas). I'd try to include that if I could.

But, back to Disney......there are a zillion things to do for every age. Take all of them to Downtown Disney. There is a neat exhibit there with some "creative" rides. I don't remember the exact name of the place I'm talking about, but it is across the street from House of Blues in Downtown Disney. (someone else will chime in with it, I'm sure). Be prepared for the teenager to be somewhat bored with the Magic Kingdom. ON the other hand, the little ones may not enjoy Epcot as much. I'd look into a multiday pass so that you could "sample" all of the parks. Some people seem to recommend the dining cards too, but I have found that you get better variety if you eat off property. When my kids were little, we would open the park, stay there until about lunchtime, then get our hands stamped and return to the hotel, where the kids would eat lunch nearby, swim and take a short rest. Then, we'd get up, eat supper before returning to the park, and then close it down. There are many good travel books about Disney in general, and they also show a lot of special programming on Disney World on the travel channel. Disney can be overwhelming if you've never been there. Just do a lot of research before you go, and plan your days carefully. The bad news is that you aren't going alone. I think they had something like several million visitors last year. The good news is that they have crowd control down to a science. Good Luck!

Hi There,

I have been to Disney World plenty of times. I got the park hopper for all 3 of the parks. Thats really great. I would stay at tone of the Disney hotels, because you can stay later at the parks.

Have Fun!!!
In Myrtle Beach - Broadway at the Beach - it has a lot of attractions (Ripley's aquarium) and Planet Hollywood. Also a lot of shops!!!

Also barefoot landing for a lot of shops

In myrtle beach go to broadway at the beach, also they have a great deal on ripley exhibits there. THey have the ripley aquarium, belive it or not museum, moving theater, and hauted attraction. You can get group tickets pretty inexpensive. The haunted house is pretty intense for the younger ones I would stick to the aquarium and the museum. Across from the aquarium is a medeivil putt-putt place that has a dragon show ever 30 min...look for that the 3 year old will love it! Also maybe check out medeivil times or one of the dinner shows they have at myrtle beach...they are alot of fun!

As for disney I can not stress enough to make sure you see the animal kingdom...its by far their greatest addition. Have a great time!!!

You want the park hopper passes at Disney for sure...and buy them for as many days as you can afford, with the no expiration feature...that way, they're good forever.

If you stay on the property, you're informed which park opens early (each day one opens one hour early for people staying on the property) and take advantage of it...will save you time standing in lines.
This is the best planning site for Disney, in case you haven't found it already: http://www.allearsnet.com

Good suggestions for touring the parks are having everybody make a list of their top few attractions that they absolutely want to see in each park and try to see everybody's top ones!

If you are staying on Disney property, take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. Check Disney's website for which park has these on which day. If you are not staying on-property, avoid the park with Extra Magic Hours! If you can, try to go to one of the park super-early and see it when it opens. Really cool.

Myrtle Beach - I think it is more of a go-with-the-flow place. So many things down the main strip - just drive and stop when you see something that interests you!
