There are guide books you should read before going. They tell you what rides to go on when for the shortest lines. Like going on the haunted mansion or space mountain when everyone is at the parade. It will be quite busy in August so expect long lines always have a water bottle with you. The fast pass is a great way to avoid the long lines so be sure to use that. Be sure to stay after dark to see the laser light show and the fireworks. It is nice to stay in the park or at a hotel near and go to the hotel and rest during the hottest part of the day use the pool, rest , have a nice meal then return to the park later in the afternoon. Food is high in the park and not that good. Lockers are available so you don't have to carry extra stuff with you. Have a meeting place in case you get separated. We go there yearly so if you have specific questions feel free to E-mail me with questions. We love it and know it like the back of our hands. You will have a ball!!! They are always on the look out for lost kids and I always felt my kids were safe there. I once fell and sprained my ankle and seconds after I fell I was surrounded by staff who helped me to the medical aide station and helped me back to my hotel. The staff really wants you to have a save and good time. I am so excited for you I wish we were planning another trip soon.
drink plenty of water, august is the hottest month here. the humidity will kill you. you will sweat as soon as you walk outside.
Purchase the Dining Plan! It will save you tons of money on food! You pay around $39 per adult and $11 for kids per day. You get 2 snacks, 1 counter service, 1 sit down meal each day for each person. Snacks can be anything from ice cream, fruit, soda, etc. Counter Service is like a value meal. Includes drink and desert. Sit down meal was the best! Each person gets their own appetizer, entree, drink and desert. Our first sit down meal total paid for the entire meal plan! It also includes the tip.
Disney travel guides actually have the best days to go to each park. I would get one of those. Fast Passes help out a lot on your wait time. Most of the major ride have them now. So I would take advantage of those.
Have fun and don't get in a hurry!
