Planning a trip to Disney World in late July...any tips??? Where to get the cheapest Disney tickets etc...? |
Travel Info Im planning my first trip to Disney World in Orlando for the end of July and was wondering if anyone who has been there before has any tips on cheap admission tickets... I only want to go for two days as Ill be about 22 weeks pregnant and Im taking my three year old (my mum is coming with me)... We want to go to the Magic Kingdom and the Animal Kingdom...I figure with only two days it would be better to just see two of the parks instead of trying to get around the whole place in two days...not to mention that I cant go on any rides... Any tips from any one who has been there would be great... I already have accomodation booked at the Quality Suites which is a mile from Disney and provides shuttle rides to and from the park... Im so excited about this trip...I grew up in Australia and only recently moved to the US and always wanted to go to Disney World, now as 26 the idea is just as exciting as it was then... Thanks in advance.... Travel Tips i just got back from WDW, I am now at 22 weeks myself. you are smart to do only MK and AK, they are the best for little kids anyway. you're going to have so much fun! At AK, don't miss the Safari, it's not going to hurt you, at most it's a little bumpy. go as early as you can in the morning when the animals are walking around, not sleeping. Use the fastpass if the line looks long, because there's so much else to see while you wait. Make sure you get a smoothie at the kiosk in China (AK) I had the rasberry and tea one and it was AWESOME! but smoothies are all over the parks, and they're all good. One thing I didn't do (because I am stubborn) is wear comfortable shoes. wear something that will allow for some expansion. My sneakers were too small by the end of the day and i got blisters. I recommend that you follow the ride restrictions while pregnant, I am a daredevil and I tried the 'dinosaur' ride at AK. while it was not all that violent for a normal person, it wasn't fun, because I spent the whole ride bracing myself, and trying to protect my belly. it's just not worth the stress. Also, i think it would be scary for a kid under 8 years. At MK, you have to go on pirates. it's been updated and it is very cool. Haunted mansion is being updated right now, so that should be done when you get there.I wouldn't miss those two, even if you spend the rest of the day in fantasyland. My very best advice to a pregnant lady at WDW is to eat a lot of icecream, smoothies, and drink water! and go back to the hotel for a swim and nap before dinner. then you can go back to the MK after dark! Others i don't know it 245789631 Congrats on the new one!! I am planning to go to disney also, but not till next year. You can call a travel agent and they would be able to help you for sure. And they can get ticket and all that. I hope this was a help! let me know how it goes e-mail dorothymaeplemons@yahoo.com Check with the hotel where you are staying, sometimes they offer a discount. I just got back from Disney two weeks ago, I bought my tickets from AAA. If you're a member, buy them from your local AAA before you go. There are signs all over offering discount tickets, I would not trust them if I were you. They buy used ticket from people and then resell, there's no way of knowing if there are any days left on them before you buy and go to Disney. I don't think they sell 2 day tickets, you would have to buy two one day tickets, not worth it when you get a three day ticket for the same price. There are some rides you can go on such as It's a Small World and Snow White. Those rides are either a boat ride or car ride, very mild and probably milder than the ride from the parking lot to Magic Kingdom. Those are probably the two best parks to take your 3 year old to - although MGM has "Playhouse Disney", so our granddaughter really likes that one too! (We did the "Play & Dine at Hollywood & Vine" with Jojo & Goliath and the Little Einsteins last December. It was a LOT of fun!) We always stay on Disney property though, so we can take advantage of the extra magic hours at the parks. I would purchase the tickets directly from Disney, because a travel agent will charge a fee. You can buy them at any Disney store, or you can purchase them on-line. If it's possible, I'd recommend getting the Park Hopper option, even if you're only going to be there for two days. The Magic Kingdom is open later than Animal Kingdom, so you could start out at Animal Kingdom, then go to MK after AK closes. The next day, you could go to MGM, then head back to MK. The best advice I can give you is get there as soon as the park opens, at AK go straight for Africa and the Kilmanjaro Safari, because you'll see more animals first thing in the morning - the giraffes even come right up close to the road!! I highly recommend going back to the hotel around noon so your toddler (and you) can get some rest, then head back to Magic Kingdom for the 3pm parade! You'll want to try to get back by 2:30 so you can find a good spot to watch the parade from. Also, if you tell them at guest relations that it's your first visit to WDW, they'll give you a badge. If you ride the monorail, be sure to ask if you & your little one can "drive". You might have to wait for the next shuttle, but they'll give you an "honorary conductor" card, and it will be an exciting experience for your little one! Honey, I'm 44 and once I go through those gates, I may as well be 10 again!!! My daughters just laugh at me, because it is the one place on earth that truly brings out my inner child! Basically there are no discount disney tickets...you pay face value....they are worth their weight in gold so why would anyone discount them...the discount tickets you see advertised around the tourist cooridor are not dsiney tickets. Have fun... |
