What are the chances of a storm in August in Orlando? |
Travel Info My family and I are traveling to Orlando with some friends during the first week in August. What are the chances of being caught in a major storm around that time? Do these storms happen often during this season? Travel Tips The hurricane season runs from Jun - Sep so it is always a possibility. Its a low chance that it will happen though. It takes several days or even weeks for a storm to move up from the south to that region so if you monitor the weather channel they will let you know if there is a low pressure disturbance in the carribean. Relax and enjoy your trip Others typically we have thunderstorms that can get pretty violent in the middle of the afternoon between 2-4pm. these are normally the rule and not the exception. it cools things down and makes for a more pleasant afternoon and evening. switch to 2007 and its anybody's guess. it is the middle of the hurricane season (june-november). the northern half of the state is still under fire watches and warnings but i think we are clear in orlando for now. There is always a possibility... August is during hurricane seaon. Your best bet is to monitor the weather - hurricanes don't come up out of no where, and you should have plenty of advanced warning and time to react. We were in Orlando during Wilma, and I was able to change our tickets and get out before it made landfall - however, it did cost quite a bit. Travel insurance tends to not cover being proactive. Assuming you avoid hurricanes (odds are in your favor), do count on rain being likely. Florida tends to be very humid, and there are often afternoon rainshowers. Pack your rain gear and have a great trip! You always have a chance of showers/t-storms during the afternoon/early evening hours. Most don't last long. Hurricane season down here runs from June 1st - Nov 30th. The peak for hurricane season is from mid August until end of October. The beginning of Sept. to the mid of Sept. is when you'll find the maximum activity...most likely to have a hurricane develope. http://www.noaa.com It's still hurricane season, so of course the possibility is there; but I wouldn't let it stop me from going. The odds aren't high enough! sorry very likely nothing else i can say i LIVE in Orlansdo as a matter of fact its storming now!! feel free to email me brazamer@aol.com i will tell you the weather if you need it! |
