I am going to Disneyworld this summer and I know the place is huge. I want to get the most of my vacation.?

Are there any secrets or things that I must do or see? I know I probably won't get to see everything, but I want to the most I can. I will be staying for 8 days at one of the resorts in the park. Any advice is nice.

Travel Tips
Ok, You have had great advice so far, however, preparation is key. Check out ALLEARSNET.com. This is the source for everything Disney. They have menus, what rides/attrations will be closed during you visit, what you should do with kids in certain age brackets, what to pack etc...

I live in Florida and use this website everytime before I visit Disney. They also publish a newsletter. The woman who runs the site has been going to Disneyworld since it opened.

In 8 days you will be able to see all the attractions/rides. You won't be able to get to every restaruant, though.

Don't forget to visit Boardwalk, downtown Disney, and other resorts ( Wilderness, Comtempory, and Animal Kingdom Lodge are musts on your list.). Keep in mind Disney transportation is FREE. It will get you everywhere on Disney property.

Bring a backpack with you to the parks. You should pack extra shirt, sunscreen, mini 1st aid kit w/ Tylenol, and bring your own water. ( Buy it off Disney property-you can save money.) Also bring dry snacks to munch on during the day.

Florida is very hot in the summer so take many breaks throughout the day. I know how exciting Disney can be but you have 8 days to enjoy the parks. Here is the order I recommend going to the parks. ( I have helped people plan the vac to Disney before.)

Start with Magic Kingdom. (Make sure to pick up a guide at your resort and daily times/schedule the night before-they will be at guest services) Go to the back of the park. Everyone starts at the front and moves to the back. You can go on Thunder mountain, haunted house, and other attractions in the back(on left side of park from the enterance). Also hit Pirates ride early. Remember you do not have to see the entire park in one day. The train ride is also nice because you can get an overview of the entire park. Do not miss Mickey's toontown while you are at the park. Under the bigtop tent you can see a lot of Disney charaters. When you enter this gift shop on the far right you will see que lines. The signs above let you know what line to go into to see the characters you are looking for- at the end of the line there are cast members who control the line. they only let a few people in at a time so you have time with each character(there are up to 3 in each room) taking pics and getting autographs.

Next, try MGM studios(this is my personal fav). It's all about movies. DO not miss the Indiana Jones show. It's awesome.

Third, go to Epcot. This park you should also start in the back by the Nations and work your way to the rides later.(Get a fast pass for test track, and soarin'). Next to one of the exhibit halls there is the coke experience. After you cool off through the ice tunnel, you arrive at the drinking station. You can try different flavors of Coke from around the world. Stay away from Italy's flavor, China's is great.

Last, go to Animal Kingdom. Make sure to have a day of rest before tackling this park. It is larger than all the other parks. Check to see when the "Magic Hour" is for this park. It is worth going to early. Start in the back in Africa on the Safari. The earlier you get on the safari, the more animals you will see. Do not miss the shows at this park either.

One last bit of advice, talk to the cast members in the Nations at Epcot-they are cast with people from the "country" you are in. Also at Animal Kingdom there are cast members from Africa and Asia. My kids really learn a lot about other cultures by listening. HAVE LOTS OF FUN!!!!!

Well, dont worry too much, because you will probably be able to cover disneyworld in like 3 full days and memorize the entire place. The other days will be more casual, as u can go to any rides u want, then you can go outside and explore the town.
get to the parks early... use the fasspass whenever and whereever possible
i would definitley get the park hopper passes. it allows to you go from park to park (it like for 5 or 6 different ones) without having to pay the admission everytime. It is cheaper to do that actually if you want to visit more than one park. We got the 5 day hopper passes when we went. And the best thing about these passes - they NEVER expire. If you have a day left on them - you could go back 5 yrs from now and use that day. That's what we did with ours.

Also - just another tip that i learned when i was there that most people don't know - tap water is free in the park!!! Instead of always buying a bottle of water - you can ask the vendor for a "cup of water" - and its free!!! alot better than paying 3-4 dollars a bottle. As hot as it will be - you will be surprised how much you save on that alone.

Be sure to take plenty of sunscreen!!!
Check out of the library or buy your own copy of "the unofficial guide to Disneyworld". It will answer any questions you have. We take our 4 kids to Disney world every other year or so, and I still consult the book and do a little planning so that our visit goes smoothly. Some people will say that only anal people plan out their vacations, but I will tell you that at Disneyworld, because of the crowds, you will be very frustrated if you just try to go where the impulse takes you. By planning out which rides you want to get fast passes for and the order you want to do things, everything will go much smoother.

My most important "pearls of Disney-wisdom" are
1. Eat a light breakfast, then eat an early lunch (no later than 11:30 so you can beat the crowds, and an early dinner (no later than 4:00. Not only will you beat the crowds and not have to wait forever, but you will feed everyone before they start to "lose it".
2. DRINK TONS! Stay away from the soda pop because it will dehydrate you. Disney drinking fountain water is gross, so we always bring a few water bottles with us to start the day and a bunch of the little add-in packets of lemonade or kool-ade. That way you can fill up at the water fountains and make it palatable. If you're going this summer, you should try to drink about 12-16 ounces every hour. Staying hydrated will keep everyone happy. Otherwise you'll all end up with headaches and be cranky.

Definately make use of the Fastpass, that will let you go on the most rides as possible. Use your fastpass on the more popular/longer line rides, then while your waiting for your time to come up for those rides go wait in line at some of the shorter line rides or go eat or something. Me and my familly do this and get to go on just about every ride in one day. And the fastpass is free for disney.
Also get a water and then refill it at the water fountains, it may not taste great but it saves you alot of cash.haha.
And when you go to animal kingdom make sure the first thing you do is get in line for the safari or get a fastpass, its good to do that first thing in the summer because there are more animals out in the morning when its cooler then in the afternoon, we found this out when we went last time.

Then theres also downtown disney, waterparks, etc to do on the days you don't go to the parks.
Have fun!
