Your Walt Disney World Experience on a budget??

Travel Info
How did you do it? What is a good place to stay near Disney that's not too expensive that the kids could enjoy? What about food prices? Souvenirs, are those expensive? How many kids did you have with you? I got 4 little nephews and cousins I'm taking after my trip next month... Plz help! Thank you!

Travel Tips
If you're coming to Orlando on a budget, my best advice to you is to stay off Disney Property. Disney has their Value Hotels but they are at least $100+/night. A lot of people here are mentioning Disney's Dining Plan. Don't get me wrong is Great, but it can bring up the price of your vacation package a lot! Plus, you don't get all of your meals free, just one Quick Service Meal, one snack and one Table Service Meal per person. Basically one light meal, one dinner meal and one snack.
We've sold these dining plans to many customers who book their vacation through us. However, myself, if I was coming on a budget, I wouldn't buy it. If you're bringing your own vehicle you can drive to a nearby restaurant (Kissimmee and Orlando have thousands of them), and eat good and perhaps cheaper! And even if you're not bringing your own vehicle, if you are staying off Disney property, there are always plenty of restaurants within walking distance too!
With so many people you are bringing with you, you are going to be already spending a lot of money on tickets. I definitely recommend you stay off property and save a lot of money that way. Furthermore, although Souveniers can be bought at the park or even Downtown Disney, they are far more expensive than if you were to stop over at one of the hundreds of Gift Shops in the area.
If you would like to, we would be more than happy to further assist you in helping you plan an affordable Vacation Package for your entire party! Just email us at info@interstatetours.com or visit us at http://www.interstatetours.com

Other Travel Tips
With a months notice it will be hard to follow my experiences. We use the dinning plan and stay on the grounds.

I would set a limit for the children's souvenirs, and wait till the last day. Spend time a Downtown Disney and purchase items there. Most everything you see in the parks are there and somewhat cheaper. The most children I have brought at one time was two, so you have my respect there. You are obviously a gracious Aunt and the kids will have a great time whatever you do.
We got a package deal for tickets and lodging thru DisneyWorld. The food in and around the parks is OUTRAGEOUSLY and ridiculously overpriced (around $100 for 3 people for a small and not very good meal). Next time, I will take a lot of my own food--smthg for breakfast in the room, sandwiches or MW food, snacks, etc for the park. Drinks are $2 or $3. You can get a turkey leg for around $3 from one of the carts. Souvenirs run from around $5 and way on up. Mouse ears are closer to $5. Sometimes you can find timeshare offers which will pay for your park tickets if you listen to their little sales talk. My cousin does this with their 3 kids. You can find cheap hotels in the hotel coupon books found around interstate highways. You can try calling Disney World and seeing what deals they have. Be sure to explain how kids you'll have and that you want to know about food and souvenirs for them.
