I note a hint of sarcasm in your question....

SImply put...people will do as they choose. If they choose to pay to be in line, they'll pay to be in line...others can't be bothered.

Some of the best WDW expereinces have occurred when not in line...watching a parade, seeing a show, eating with the characters, or just people watching.

You need to have a plan when you go to WDW...if you don't, you'll be in line forever and very full or piss and vinegar...not a combination you want to have on vacation.

great marketing i guess!
He died before this phenomenon occured.
When he announced Disneyland open back in 1955(?), he welcomed everyone to the "Happiest Place on Earth"...

He was right... it's been a great place to spend "quality" time with my kids...(most memorable was spending over 3 hours waiting in the Splash Mountain line when it first opened for "testing" back in 1990...and never got to ride it because at they finally declared it closed for the evening after breaking down all day).
He helped create and inspire a wonderful magical place where people of all ages feel that magic and happiness occurs on a daily basis
They simply offer services that are worth the wait.
by targeting kids... kids will make parents do anything
