Swim with Dolphins? |
Travel Info I am going to Orlando next week & plan to swim with the dolphins at Discovery Cove in Sea World. Has anyone else ever done this? Did you like it? Do you actually get to touch the dolphins? Travel Tips my husband and i did this at Discovery Cove this past March for our anniversary. It was all that i expected and MUCH MORE! the only problemi had was with the wet suit you have to wear in all the animal areas. mine was a little too big and awkward. i would reccomend getting there at opening time and try to schedule your dolphin swim time early in the day because it often rains in the afternoon and even a shower or cloudy skies can affect your pictures. Definitely take a waterproof camera with you. There are staff members around the area that will take your pic throughout the day for you to purchase before close, unfortunately we didn't run across them at all. The coral reef where you snorkel was amazing. We spent most of our time there and didn't even go through the bird aviary. I would also suggest getting your locker in the first locker room closest to the restaurant. we didn't think we would use it very much but we did. the dolphin lagoon is off to the side away from the other attractions but there is a beach with plenty of chairs for a break or to take pictures of the dolphins when they are with other groups. When you get your turn with your dolphin you will go in small groups of 7 or 8 and your trainer will talk to you about dolphins and you can touch and get up close. After that each person will swim out to the middle of the lagoon and you get a dolphin ride back to the shallow waters. Hold on tight! I was very surprised how fast my dolphin just took off. There is a photographer in the water with you the whole time taking pics of you with your dolphin. You can purchase these later, and yes they are pretty expensive. The package they offered when we were there was 7 - 5x7 photos (you pick which ones you want), the cd with all your pics from the day, and 2 keychains. All that was around $130. That was my big splurge for our trip and I have to say, being the dolphin lover that i am, it was worth every penny. Enjoy your trip! If you have any other questions feel free to ask! Source(s): been to discovery cove we had Capricorn , the one in jaws, he was REALLY big and the oldest one at the park at 40yrs old. Other Travel Tips I did (but in key west) and yes, you get to 'feel' the dolphins. It was a lot cooler than I expexted. Their skin was almost silky, really weird, but soothing feeling. Have fun! I did it once in Bermuda. I really liked it. Yeah, we got to touch the dolphins and ever got pictures of them giving us kisses, lol. Yes...Yes...and Yes!!! Have a great vacation!! yap did it june 29th my dolphin flipped over on its belly after i kissed it so cute but those trainers like to trick u alot u get to swim across the thingy with them its 30 minutes and so fun u feed it tell it to do tricks mine was named Natalie she had a baby boy three months ago she was their model dolphin and they had a dolphin that was in jaws he was a big one |
