Working as a doctor in Ottawa Ontario?

Does anyone know which applications are needed for a doctor who graduated in the USA and would like to live and practice in Ontario? Is it possible to open a private clinic and if not what would an average income be? Thank you for any replies.. Cherie

Currently Ontario has some incentive programs to bring in doctors. Enquire about that.

Many communities have been paying the relocation expenses and giving a signing bonus to doctors to go to their community.

You cannot operate a private clinic in Ottawa. I wish you could, there is a shortage right now. There are reports of people offering signing bonuses of 5000 dollars to get a doctor who will take their family on as patients.

There are rumors of a private clinic operating in Calgary and the government is quite concerned about it.

If you want to practice in Ontario you have to do it through OHIP.
