Moving to Ottawa, How do I get an apartment with no Canadian Credit history? |
Travel Info I've done a lot of research, and I guess my credit history will not follow me when I move to a new country. So how do I get an apartment with no credit history? Travel Tips There is a lot of people coming to Canada every year from different countries and i guess they would not have a credit history as well but they still can find a place to rent. They usually ask for a deposit here (first and last) and you sing the lease agreement for 1 year and you are all set ;-) Just answer any question they ask truthfully and you will not have any problems Others Cash, like the rest of us. It is better to get a letter from the Credit Bureau in your country of origin, or a letter from your current landlord or leasehold company, with electronic transfer now a days, it is easier to have it transfered. But if you owe any large sums of money were your from, that can hamper your chances. I would talk to your Credit Agency about the copy of your credit background so you can go to the Ottawa Credit Bureau and give them a copy, make on for yourself so if you ever move you can take it with you. I worked as a chef all over Canada for 20 years and I was able to have this done for me. Most landlords and leasehold companys will want some proof of background before they will allow you to move in, first and last months rent is fine, but if your coming from a foreign country, they may ask for a damage deposit also. Don't sign a lease until you have read the fine print or have someone who can explain the ins and outs to you. here if you sign a lease your in for a time or some run on a yearly basis. |
