Im going to Carelton Place on Wednesday for an exchange trip.
What should I expect?

You're going to find a small old-fashioned town that is rapidly becoming one of Ottawa's new bedroom communities. The Mississippi River runs through Carleton Place and parts of it are lovely. The town is very, very safe to walk around in, (as are all Canadian towns of this size.) If you're a "city person", you'll find the town to be very quiet and restful. This should not be a shopping trip, just one way of seeing rural Ontario. You may want to ask your hosts to take you for a drive in through the countryside.

Carleton Place? Meh, theres not alot to do around there. But you're just down the highway (maybe 30-40 mins) from Ottawa. Go there.
