Best park in ONTARIO? |
Travel Info WITHIN THE oTTAWA REGION Travel Tips Goodness, there are a lot of wonderful parks in and around Ottawa. Which you like best is going to depend alot on what you want to do. If you want a city park, I love Brantwood Park in old east Ottawa. It's at 120 Clegg. You'll find picnic tables, a wadding pool and swings for the kids. We've had some great friends and family Sunday afternoons there. If you want to be at the edge of the city with a certain amount of solitude, try the Jock River Park at 70 Lennox. It is large and flat with plenty of room for a family casual ball game. It has a few picnic tables, an outhouse, and a small dock at the river's edge where you could put in a canoe. This is defintely NOT a place to swim. All of the lock stations along the canal have associated small parks. You'll pay for parking, but also find a number of picnic tables, barbeques and washrooms. What is most fun is watching the boats go through the locks. There isn't any swimming and not enough space for spread out games. If you're willing to drive an hour or an hour and a half out of town, think about Silver Lake Provincial Park and Sharbot Lake Provincial Park. These both have swimming, access to the water for small boats, washrooms, and lots of picnic space. (We prefer Silver Lake because one of the beaches faces due west and catches the setting sun.) I hope a lot of other people weigh in on this question, because there are many, many great parks. |
