There's beautiful places everywhere in Canada - don't limit yourself to just Ottawa. Be adventurous. Try British Columbia - some of the most beautiful scenery you'll ever see
drive right through.....

kidding. Its a great city.
depends at what time of year you go. In the spring/summer, there are some festivals (Tulip, Blues). July 1st (canada day) is a riot...population doubles. There's also Dow's lake and the canal which is great too.
Fall/Winter. Can be cold at times, but again, there's the canal - The longest skating rink in the World. There's the corresponding Winterlude, with activities and amazing ice sculptures, etc. During the fall, there is the obvious foliage changing colours which is amazing, especially if you go to Gatineau Park.

Just don't go for the nightlife. Thats abit of a letdown.
