Travel Info Is Ottawa safe place comparing to Vancouver, and how is the winter there? Travel Tips Ottawa's crime rate is lower, but so is the temperature inthe winter. It tends to range around -20 C, can get a lot warmer or colder. Generally there is a fairly heavy snowfall and high humidity in Ottawa because it is located in a valley. One thing I like about Ottawa is that it's close to both Toronto and Montreal. It is also right on the Quebec border so you can experience the French Canadian culture too. The feel in Ottawa is that of a small town, but it has big amenities like an NHL franchise, the National Arts Center and the Transitway. Also, you can drop by Parliament Hill and give your MP heck in person ;) Others Yes. Weather sucks but of late it sucks less possibly because of global warming. Of course it is a city so sadly there are violent crimes here like everywhere but overall its pretty safe. Dating seen is not said to be as cool as vancouver. Ottawa's gotta be safer. Vancouver can be pretty bad in some areas. it's much safer than Vancouver, but the winter's pretty fierce in my opinion. Ottawa has a lower crime rate than Vancouver, but MUCH colder winters.
