Sherwood,Fisher and Merivale,Ottawa???

Someone has told us the 3 areas outside of Ottawa Suburbs that we can rent an Apartment:the areas are:SHERWOOD,FISHER AND MERIVALE.Are they 3 separate cities outside of Ottawa???If yes,how far each one of them to go into downtown Ottawa by car,train/bus and which one is closer to downtown Ottawa and less traffic in Rush Hours???Thanks so much for all your answers.

As the previous poster said: street names, not neighbourhoods. Try maps.yahoo.ca or similar for an idea of where they are in relation to the city core.

IAll three are in Nepean (now amalgamated with Ottawa; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/nepean%2c_o... Fisher was, or still is, the border between Ottawa proper and Nepean, though. They're pretty close.

Re. bus service from same, those aren't little back alleys -- depends what bus routes/intersections you're living near.

Assuming that link works, note the thing that says "BASELINE," with a little bus next to it. That's the hub; so long as you're on a good bus route to it (or within walking distance), getting downtown is a breeze. You can get buses that go directly downtown with no transfers from some parts of Nepean, too. Use the 'Travel Planner' thing on the OC Transpo site to figure out times.

The only thing I can say re. traffic is that Merivale itself is pretty busy whenever I'm there -- which isn't even usually rush hour.

They are streets that are in the west end suburb of the city, not seperate cities themselves. Sherwood Drive, Fisher Ave, Merivale Rd

Those are all streets, in Ottawa. If you ask me all are heavily traffic areas, especially Merivale. KMemmie gave you some great info! Here are some rental web sites for you to check out. There are several areas of the city as well as surrounding areas to check out. Don't limit yourself to the three streets your friend told youabout.

There are suburbs around Ottawa, some are Nepean, Gloucester, New Orleans, to name a few they are Townships not cities. there is a web site that will help you find all the information you need
