Gloucester,Orleans and Nepean(ottawa,ontario)??? |
Travel Info In your opinion, which of the folowing 3 Surburban Areas of Ottawa is the cheaper in terms of Apartment Rentals, housing prices and how far each of these 3 Areas take to go into Downtown Ottawa,Ont???Also,if anyone can tell me specifically the Areas inside these 3 townships where I can rent a 2 bedrooms Apartment with reasonable rate, not too expensive: GLOUCESTER,ORLEANS AND NEPEAN.Thanks so much for your help. Travel Tips Orleans is mostly houses, there are very few apartments there (really only 1 that I can think of). It is also the furthest of the suburbs you asked about. Gloucester would be closest to downtown. In terms of prices, Gloucester and Nepean would roughly be equal. Others I believe Orleans is cheaper. rate $ 1200.00 and up and how far 20 KM Nepean would be the closest to Downtown. Gloucester would probably have the cheapest rents, but both are similar. Orleans is a long way out but you could probably find cheap rentals there if you are willing to put up with the commute. Re. "$ 1200.00 and up" -- no. You can get a pretty decent 2-bedroom in _downtown_ Ottawa for $900. Really, there aren't easy answers to these questions you keep asking. Search for "ottawa apartment rentals," sit down with some maps -- including the OC Transpo ones -- and sort out what you want. With the possible exception of Vanier, there isn't a magic neighbourhood that's easy-access to downtown, and cheap. There are cheap apartments and expensive apartments all over the city. Canada doesn't have ghettos like the States; it's not like there are any places in the city you really need to be warned away from, or anywhere that's an exceptional bargain. An apartment on a good bus route is an apartment on a good bus route. Do you want a high-rise with a pool, or a walk-up building with nice architecture? Given that you can find a 2bdrm for anywhere from $800-$3000, how much are you willing to spend? How crummy are you willing to put up with? A "reasonable rate" is not the same for everybody. Would you spend extra for a yard? Would you accept a longer commute if it meant having a townhouse and not an apartment? Have you considered living across the bridge in Qu茅bec? Loads of Anglophones who work in Ottawa do; it's cheaper, and it's quite an easy commute -- I have a friend who walks to work in Ottawa from his place in Hull. Want to spend $1185? You can get a 3bdrm townhouse: http://ottawa.craigslist.org/apa/2660409... Want to live really far out in Nepean? You can get a basement 2bdrm for $595: http://ottawa.craigslist.org/apa/2672941... You can get a large 2bdrm ("4 1/2" = 4.5 rooms; the bathroom is the .5) for $700, near the bridge to Ontario, in Hull, Qu茅bec: http://ottawa.craigslist.org/apa/2645820... etc, etc, etc |
