Does anyone know of a great family campsite near Ottawa, ON? |
Travel Info nice beaches, close to bathroom/ showers, Travel Tips My favorite park in eastern Ontario is Sandbanks. It's over an hour drive from Ottawa. It's on Lake Ontario, just west of Kingston. The beach is beautiful. Gorgeous fine sand. If you reserve well ahead, you can get a campsite right on the beach. Then park itself is great and it's also fun to explore the island (espc by bicycle.) Closer to Ottawa, up the Ottawa River, is Fitzroy. In Fitzroy Harbour. It's a much smaller park. Nice swimming. Cute little town. Source(s): You can check it out at www.ontarioparks.com Other Travel Tips Jones Falls on the Rideau. Try the KOA website, they now include canadian campsites too and have a comprehensive listing. (KOA sites are always family frinedly) www.koa.com Well, it depends somewhat on what you mean by "near". Gatineau Park, just over the river from Ottawa in Quebec, has some amazing campsites. Yes, they speak English there, too. The best place is definitely Gatineau Park, {Agreed they do speak English}, it is a gorgeous place and a quick drive to anywhere. Ottawa is about 20 minutes from there. It is definitely not a place you would regret staying at. Live in the area |
