Considering to move to Ottawa. What are the best area to live with kids? |
Travel Info Need the name of best suburb in ottawa to live and raise kids. Need clean and quite community of middle class. beautiful and affordable house. great school. don't want downtown ottawa but suburn area not crowdy but warm and nice place. Travel Tips my sister jus moved to rockland ontatrio and she really enjoys it there. My nephew is invoved in hockey there and he really loves it. It is very close to ottawa because my brother in law works in ottawa and he takes a train into his job. Others Come on over to Hull. Cross the bridge and find yourself some affordable housing. Ottawa's overpriced. Well, I would have to suggest either Kanata or Orleans, both are within 10-15 min of Ottawa and are quite nice suburbs. Clean, new home developments and access to the 417 Hwy which runs right through the city. If you wish a little further out, try cumberland. Hope this helps. Hmm. Centrepointe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/centrepoint... Note "developed from 1985 onwards" -- can't really find a slummy house there. As suburbs go, I think it's a reasonably well-done one. -- excellent access to public transit; right near major transitway station, one quick bus to downtown -- great library -- theatre -- nice outdoor skating rink -- schools quite decent -- shopping aplenty nearby; also near Algonquin College -- near Nepean Sportsplex Very family-oriented, and beats farther-flung suburbs like the above-mentioned Kanata, where everything's a commute and the teenagers are bored stupid. Are you looking to rent or buy? I would say Nepean in West Ottawa, bus service to downtown is good, lots of schools elementary and high, hospitals, parks/playing fields, rec centers, and not too bad area to raise children, some petty crime as most place not too bad though. Barrhaven is a newer community not too much rental housing, kinda isolated not easy to get downtown unless you have a car so kids may get bored, Orleans in the East also a bit isolated, bus service to get downtown is good but far, going home from work is hell rush hour on the highway, not as new as Barrhaven, large mall. Barrhaven and Orleans are a bit more pricey than Nepean. Try this for rental info http://www.rentersnews.ca/ Don't go to Hull/Gatineau especially if you have a job in Ottawa you don't want to be stranded over there when they finally seperate and get out, plus unless you are buying a newer house the turn of the century rental ugly houses are brutal. live and work in Ottawa for the last 13yrs Orleans or Kanata, both are very nice lots of parks and schools. |
