If mother's name is spelled wrong on indian passport is it a problem to travel ? |
Travel Info If mother's name is spelled wrong on indian passport is it a problem to travel ? Travel Tips i had a similar problem & i went back to the passport office & brought it to their notice as i did not want to take a risk with it. they took back the passport & the same evening returned it with a correction made on the first page & signed by the passport officer along with his seal. see its not a problem but why take that chance, since mine was a duplicate passport & i had the proper name on my original one. Others It might be..it all depends on who you come across on your trip u try 2 contact indian embassy of tht country. The spelling from Hindi is probably phonetic in English. So, I do not think it is a problem. However, when and if ever you are asked to answer for your mother's name again, then it has to be the same as the faulty one. It is a problem when it is misspelled in YOUR name. I travel all the time. Since I was ll, and since I was 16 on my own. I have changed my name 3 times, and once my middle name, which is never used was misspelled by Phila.'s passport office. I didn't have time to change it, and it was so undistinguishable, from Beryl to Beryn....I accepted it. But it caused me a lot of trouble in Mexico where the middle name is important, it didn't match my birth certificate. I ended up changing it on my next passport after the previous one was stolen. |
