Is a baby car seat needed in Athens?

We are visiting Athens in April with our 8 month-old. Not sure if we need to take our car seat with us for her? We will be hiring taxis and not driving.
Any other travel tip for sightseeing with a baby will be helpful. How convenient is it to use a pushchair around the sights such as Parthenon? Or wld you recommend a baby carrier? Thanks!

In some countries, taxis have to provide car seats for babies/children. I doubt that's the case in Greece. I would recommend getting one if you can (the suggestion to hire one is good if possible), for safety rather than legal reasons. Failing that, I would recommend public transport rather than taxis.

It could be difficult to use a pushchair around Athens, especially sights such as the Parthenon where there will be many crowds and the surfaces are uneven. Plus that's extra luggage to lug back and forth with you on the flights. I would suggest one of those baby backpacks or slings - they are very handy things to have, not just in Greece or on holidays but in general.

Well I think for an 8 month old whether you "need" one in Athens isn't the question. Even though you are not driving, you should have one. Especially since drivers are a bit crazy in Athens Call a couple of rental car places to see if you can rent one from them while you are there, that way you wont have to lug that thing back and forth on your flights.
For your baby's safety you should always use one, it makes no difference if you are driving or not!
