First time flyer, and need some help? |
Travel Info Hi, this is the first time I'm flying myself, and I just have a couple of questions. Is there a size limitation on my carry-on? Because I'm only staying for a couple of days for a college tour, so I only plan to bring some clothes and my laptop. So would a carry-on-only baggage suffice? I plan to just grab a duffel bag and throw clothes in and bring my laptop in my laptop bag. They allow that right? Do people do that? Also.. just to go over what I have to do, I would: Check in on the airliner's website, print out my check in ticket thing. Go to the airport, check-in, grab my boarding pass (or is that done online too?) Go thru security checkpoint, and board. Am I missing anything? Thanks for the help. Travel Tips You are allowed to bring clothes, shoes, and toiletries (up to 3oz bottles that can all fit in a clear ziploc bag) http://www.tsa.gov/assets/pdf/bag_size.p... and your laptop with you in your carry-on. You must have your laptop switched off when it goes through security. For a complete list of what you can and cannot take, look at the TSA website: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/p... Carry-on bag size and amounts (how many you can bring) vary from airline to airline, and also depend on the class you are sitting in (example: business and first class get more allowance than economy). If you book online, it is always best to check-in with the ticket counter ahead of time to make sure there are no problems. You should call your airport ahead of time to check on security wait times, but the general rule of thumb is to allow yourself 2-5 hours before your flight to get checked-in (and deal with any problems if there are any), go through security, and wait to board your flight. If I can be of any more assistance, please feel free to contact me. Hope you have a wonderful flight! Other Travel Tips You are allowed 2 carry on items - so check on the airline website to make sure the duffel is within regulations. Remember - you can not take more than 3 ounces of liquid in your carry on bag - if you have 3 ounces or less it has to be in a clear baggie I would check in online/print boarding passes and then you can go directly to the boarding gate after you clear security go directly to your carriers website. they have all info needed Please check the airline web site for baggage requirements and sizes. They will give you the configuration. Most US airlines will allow you to carry on two items, so you duffle and laptop will be fine, but again check. Also, not all airlines allow on line check in, again the web site will detail for you. Please closely follow what you can and can not carry on a plane. The rule is any liquids (shaving lotions, shampoo, toothpaste, etc, must be smaller 3 ounces or under and all must fit into one quart baggie. If you choose to carry these things on, you take them out of your bag and put into the bins provided by the TSA for inspection. This will expedite the security process. Good luck.
