Travel Info airport! We have a one-week holiday booked in September 2007 and her passport expires March 2008. Can you confirm if she will require a new UK passport to travel? Travel Tips Don't worry. Usually your passport has to be valid for 6 months beyond your departure date for international travel (in some countries 3 months). However, because your mom is a EU citizen and you are traveling WITHIN the EU, this will not be an issue!!! All you need is a valid identity card or passport, but you do not have to worry about the 3 months or 6 months rules that apply to other international travel. Sounds like she should get a new one. From what I can remeber you need to have at least 6 months left on your passport to travel to most countries and you can renew a passport unpto 9 months before it runs out- they will add the extra months to the new one.
