What is the best way to ship belongings? |
Travel Info I have been taking care on my 9yr old grandson for about 9 months, I live in Texas and he will be moving back to "Georgia Mountains. He is flying back home and he has alot of belongings to send back , like a bicycle, guitar, and toys and you know, the usual for a 9 yr old. What is the best way to get this stuff back to him with out spending a fortune on ups etc? Can anyone help me with this? Thank You. Bethy Travel Tips He will be allowed to take 2 pieces of checked luggage not to exceed 50-65 lbs., depending on the airline. He will also be allowedone carry-on item, That should wrap up a lot of his clothes and other items and carry his guitar as carry on. The bike can be boxed and shipped as excess baggage for about $109 per piece. Beyond that, look at what he has and determine if its worth shipping or giving to charity. Weigh the value of the items ( not sentimental value) and decide to ship or donate. Perhaps a small yard sale is in order. Good Luck! Source(s): 18 year FedEx employee. Other Travel Tips Maybe you can find a trucking company that does cheap "backloads". That is they would normally go back that way empty or partly loaded so they will give you a good price. Otherwise try a "mini mover" type company who specialise in small loads. They may take longer to get it there if it has to be combiined with other loads but it will cost you less. |
