How does one go about moving across country??

Like best/reasonable places to live in LA (really surrounding areas since I understand it's really all one big melting pot anyway) I don't require alot, nor do a have a ton of stuff to move. I just want some realistic ideas. I'm 36 and I keep thinking I'm too old to make this move anyway- is that silly or what?? :)

do it! life is an adventure. i live like 30 mile south of L.A. in O.C. and it cost pretty much the same if youre smart. use craigslist.
