This summer I am going to Rio de Janeiro for about 20 days and i want to know how much $ i should bring? |
Travel Info I will be visiting one of my best friends and i dont know about how much money i should save up just for spending while there. I know that my friends arent wealthy nor are they poor they are just really good with spending their money and i dont want it to look as if im spoiled or rich(how ppl think of America) but I want to bring enough to get clothes, shoes, souvineers(sry if i slaughtered that word), and money to eat and just hang out. And i just found out 1.00 USD = 2.03100 BRL United States Dollars Brazil Reais Help please!!!!!!!! Travel Tips For a 20 day trip I would plan on no less than $50/day ($1,000) for spending money. The dollar goes far in Brasil but you also don't want to be a burden on your friends who are hosting you for nearly 3 weeks. Be sure to budget something for a gift for your hosts and to take them out to eat at least a couple of times during your stay. A lot of the sightseeing in Rio is just that - seeing the physical beauty of the city and walking about taking in the incredible energy of the people who live there. There are many free and low cost ways to enjoy yourself e.g., watching free bossa nova bands that perform on the promenade on Sunday afternoons, watching the young capoeira performers, visiting the weekend farmer markets and of course hanging at the beach. I found it fun just to walk the promenade starting at the far end of Copacabana and walking all the way up to Ipanema and Leblon. Some of the best souvenirs I found were CDs, small instruments and unusual food products. These are generally inexpensive. Take a look at the site below for details of costs of specific items in Brasil. A professor and fellow wanderer advised me once to "Pack twice as much money as you think you need and half as much clothing". The latter is particularly true for Rio. Besides if you don't use all the money, you can always bring it back and start saving for your next trip! Happy travels! Source(s): Personal experience http://www.rioholiday.com/money-manageme... Other Travel Tips Why not ask your "best" friend? I know when I have visitors I like to take them to touristy places, out to dinner, etc and have my own budget and then can tell my friends about $10-15 more a day for their own use because I know they will want to purchase suvineers, possibly drinks, clothes, etc. |
