My goldfish seem to be really struggling while my filter is on...one of them keep floating to the top and then trying to swim back to the floor...I don't have any pebbles or grass in the aquarium...I just want to make sure that the filter is safe for my goldfish...Help? What should I do?

You need to put either some gravel or some sort of safe "carpet" there. It helps the fish to stay in comfort. It might help it be more comfortable. If not, get a lighter filter. Get one that either fits the size of water or one for a smaller tank if the fish is still struggling. I had Red Velvet Swordfish that mated and had babies, and having the stones and plants in there helped them to survive (that little contraption from the pet store for baby fish also helped). I had them for a few years (generations basically) before giving them to my little brother. |
