I need to pack for 6 weeks in Spain with only one suitcase what packing tips do you suggest? |
Travel Info We will be moving around so my parents are only alowing me one suitcase and a carry on. I am a 14 year old girl and we will be near beaches and also cities. Besides putting closes in ziploc bag and sitting on them, how can I pack litghtly wihtout running out of clothes. P.S. we will be able to do laundry! Travel Tips Your parents are right and you should only take one regular-size rolling suitcase (not more than 50 pounds). That way you won't get charged for overweight (maybe even refused) by the airline. You don't need 20 changes of clothes for a 6 week trip: Don't worry about wearing the same outfit more than once (just be presentable). Underclothes can be washed in the bathroom sink. Assuming you are going on holiday, I recommend you take the following clothing: 1 Jacket, preferably with a hood and at least semi water resistant 1 Sweater (unless you are going somewhere guaranteed to be hot) 6 Shirts/blouses (3 short-sleeve & 3 long-sleeve) 2 Jeans, 2 Not jeans (substitute/add skirts for you) 2 short pants 7 changes of underclothing 2 Pair of comfortable walking shoes 1 or 2 Swimsuits (+ beach clothing & sandals) Try to choose classics, and items that you can mix and match. Have at least one set of "nicer" clothing. You may need "modest" clothing to enter churches in Spain. That means covered shoulders and a knee-length or longer skirt (you can wear trousers). You also need a scarf to cover your head. You can add a nice dress & shoes if you might attend a more formal occasion (nice restaurant for dinner, opera, whatever). Don't take dress clothing unless you are fairly sure you will need it. Wear one set of clothing on the flight. Pack the jacket, 1 ss shirt, 1 ls shirt, 1 trousers (or skirt), and a set of underclothing in your carry-on. Mark or tag your suitcase with something that makes them more distinct. An example would be to attach a strip of colored tape to each side of the bag. It reduces the chance someone might accidentally pick up your bag by mistake at baggage claim (there are millions of black suitcases). Also clearly tag the bags >>> inside and outside <<< with your name and a good phone number + e-mail address (but not your home address). The free tags from the check-in counter are OK. A tag also needs to go on your carry-on bag. Only carry enough cash for the day in your purse or wallet. Buy an under-the-trousers security belt and keep your passport, other ID, and most of your cash in it except when actually needed. Please do this. Send an e-mail message to yourself with your passport number & date of issue. That way the info is easily accessible in case something is lost or stolen. Finally, ask your parents to consider getting trip medical insurance even if your regular policy says it covers you in Europe. Trip medical insurance is cheap and is sold via airlines and travel agencies (like American Express). Hope you have a good trip! Others Pack a lot of light t-shirts, Those pack well. Anything really thin. Don't forget a sweatshirt though, it's cold sometimes. Try and bring a backpack (if you don't mind carrying it). tooth brush underware pants shorts shirts jackets bras socks shoes sandals tank-tops a book your camera phone swimm suit towel sungalsses take the one allowed suitcase, and fill it with one hundred dollar bills. once in spain, give one of those bills to the first homeless person for their shopping cart, buy a butt-load more clothes, and carry them around in your newly-purchased cart. good luck. ;) roll all your clothes up like a paper towel tube, they wont rinkel, and you get trice as mujch in the suit case. That is how the prfessionals do it m I'd pack for a week and a half. You can wash your clothes when you stop places. If you unfold your clothes and roll them instead of fold them you often can fit more in your suitcase. If you're bringing toiletries, make them travel sized. You can always buy toiletries in Spain. For example I'd pack: 4 pair of shorts 1 pair of pants 9 summer tops (mostly tanks, halters, and sleeveless) 2 sweatshirts (unless you're bringing a jacket, then only 1) 2 swimsuits and a towel 1 pair of sandals/flip flops 10 pair of underwear/bras socks to wear with tennis shoes (no more than 10 pair) Ask your parents if you'll need dress clothes. To travel over there I'd wear: a pair of pants a t-shirt tennis shoes Remember, your parents are there to help you. Ask them to take a look at everything you plan on bringing BEFORE you pack it. They might have some suggestions or ideas to help you out too. |
