I need tips on packing a 5 bdr. 3 bath house in 5 days? |
Travel Info we were just informed that the house we are renting has been sold, and we need to get out. not a shocker we knew it was coming eventually, we found another house to buy and we close this friday, due to circumstances beyond our control we need to move in next wednesday... that being said, i now have a 5 bdr. 3 bath house to pack in about 5 days, any pointers or quick tips would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance. Travel Tips Due to a spouse that travelled, I moved 12 times in 10 years, often with days notice. First thing to do is get rid of any unwanted junk. Give usable goods to a women's shelter and throw out the junk. Call your local shelter in advance, some will pick up your stuff saving you time and energy. Empty all your closets first. If you number your boxes then create a manifest for each box number, you won't lose a thing. For great packing paper, try your local newspaper. They have roll ends of newsprint that won't get ink on your good china etc. Why not have people over for a packing party, order pizza and catch up? Tip: keep the tv turned off. You'll have to focus and prioritize. Also, call all your utility companies right away and book hook ups and cancel service at the old house. The day of the move, plan to have dinner out. One good idea I've yet to implement, if you can afford to, stay in a hotel the night you move in to your new place, that way you relax and are refreshed to start unpacking. Fresh coffee helps too. Don't let pets out of the new house for at least a few weeks as they may go missing or try to go to the old home. Best of luck!that sucks! but, just start in one room and mark the boxes also you could use your digital camera and take a photo of the room and print out several copies once the room is in a box tape the photo on it, it will help when you get to the new house know what is in each box incase you do not have alot of time to unpack and the boxes have to be packed for a week or two. but just ask friends and family for help it will get done faster. good luck Moving company Well..first I'd say grab all the friends and family to help ya out! But other then that, just pack room by room, in organized tubs, keeping out only what you need in the moment...oh and stay calm! I am moving to florida in two weeks. I am so tired of packing and moving that this time i learned the meaning of a new word: trash. I have been throwing away things I have not used or looked at in years and a large quantity of the rest is going to Goodwill. I also had a huge yard sale. You might not have time for the yard sale, but i would suggest as you pack you set aside things you know you no longer want. You can have a yard sale when you get to your new house. Now, tips on packing in 3 days. Stay focused. Try to keep all similar items together in category not based on what room they are in. For example, if you have framed pictures, go through each room and take all the framed pictures and pack them together. You can do the same for books, vases, glass collectables. Once you have the small stuff out of the way, it will be easy to go back to each room and pack only what is left. Anyway I feel your pain. I am doing the same thing myself today. Good luck. Hire a mover! Seriously, I am moving right now myself so I feel for ya'! Pack in small boxes so nothing is too heavy for one person to carry. Rally your friends-just feed 'em really well. Get rid of stuff you don't use-now is the perfect time to do it. Use any container you have already-I have packed my kitchen stuff into cleaned garbage cans. Pots and pans in duffel bags. Don't empty dresser drawers, just take the drawers out, move the emptied dresser to your truck or whatever and put the drawers back in-do the opposite at your new place. I have also used bed sheets, towels, clothing to wrap fragile items before packing. If you can, hire a cleaning service for your old house, once you move you're not going to want to clean it too.
