What's the best way to bring a computer with me while I move cross country?

I'm flying, and I'm only allowed 2 items of checked luggage. I'm moving back from Hawaii to Maine, so shipping is too expensive for me. (it was over $130 to ship it out here)

eek! if its a desktop, you might have to store it on the plane in the back. Make sure if you do that to put it in a secure, EXTREMELY wrapped box. if its a laptop, i would imagine they still let you bring those onto planes.

Its gonna cost alot to put in in cargo too. you might be better off to sell it and buy a new one. the airline is not going to be easy on it either. it might get banged around, after you spend alot of money to ship and then might get broken. I would consider using ups by shipping in a box much like it came in with same type of padding etc. If you value your computer its really the obvious choice.
