Thinking of moving to the isle of wight? |
Travel Info we are thinking of moving to the isle of wight. and wondered if any one living there what is there view of living costs. if the commute to portsmouth or southampton is worth it. what areas are good Travel Tips I would say that living costs are generally slightly lower than the average for the south of England. House prices, for example, are lower than somewhere like Southampton (because of the hassle of a ferry ride) However, some things like petrol, for example, can be more expensive (for the same reason!!) In my experience, the commute can be ok, but will take time unless you live near Cowes or Ryde and work centrally in Portsmouth or Soton. How would you define "good" !!? Others The ferry crossing from the isle of wight is expensive so to commute back to portsmouth or southampton your talking a lot of money.Although property prices are very reasonable and it costs no more to live there than it does anywhere else . |
